I really love this remote location! The landscape is 'out of this world', the views are fantastic! The name Applecross apparently derived from the Pictish "Apor-crossan" (confluence of River Crossan) and is used for the whole of the peninsula and not just this little settlement. What the visitor would call "Applecross village" is locally referend to as 'The Street". When you've finally arrived all the way over the top of the Bealach na Ba "The Street" gives the distinct impression that you are at the very edge of the world. The village's inaccessibility might have something to do with that.

From the village's waterfront (there is some mightily good coffee to be had!) there are incredible views out across the bay to Raasay and Skye.

Basically this is a very quiet little 'village', but in summer, especially when the weather is fine, there may be quite a few visitors! The fact that Applecross is also part of the NC500 could very well play it's part as well.

Nevertheless, "The Street" with it's awe inspiring approach road should really be on your itinerary.
