Scottish Weather
"Today's rain is tomorrow's whisky" or
"There's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes!"
The weather in Scotland? Now there is a subject! What do you think! Very wet, windy and gloomy. In short it is 'dreich'!
Well, it is sometimes and it isn't most of the time. I've been to Scotland quite a few times and, in truth, most of the time the weather has been kind. Yes, I remember being completely soaked on a walk around Loch Maree (it happens) but also had benign sunshine, clear skies and lovely balmy temperatures (do beware of the midges when there is no wind and it is humid, wet and cloudy!)
To state the obvious (or as we say in The Netherlands: "To kick in an open door"): It all depends on the time of year and where exactly you are (Let's forget climate change for a wee moment).
Visit Scotland: "Scotland's climate is actually quite moderate and very changeable, although on occasion we get really hot or really cold weather. As the old Scottish saying goes, 'there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes!'
Despite being a relatively small country, one of the most surprising things about the Scottish climate is just how much it varies from one region to another. It's often the case that you can drive for 20 minutes and find that the conditions are completely different. The unpredictable nature of the climate means it's not uncommon to experience all four seasons in one day!"
