Description:
Kenmure is something 'special'. It's different from 99% of the other castles on this site. There was a true castle here way back but that is not what you will find today. Although having said that...the building we see today was begun in the middle of the 17th century during the ownership of Sir Robert Gordon and his son John, Viscount of Kenmure.
A century later it had fallen into decay, but it was fully restored again in the Victorian period. Later it used to be a hotel, but in 1958 the interior was stripped and the roof taken off, leaving the building a shell. The ruins can be visited! More details and how to get to the ruins you'll find in the link here!
