Carrick Castle *

Description:
Carrick castle is believed to have been built in the 12th century and in 1368 it passed to the Campbell Earls of Argyll. It remained a Campbell stronghold for over 300 years.
In 1685 the lands were pillaged, and the castle burned during Argyll’s rebellion, after the tower was bombarded by a government frigate. Carrick Castle is at present being restored.
