Impressive earthworks of Dunsinane hillfort, which may have been occupied as late as Macbeth's time. The views over the Tay Valley are superb and although some of the walk is quite steep, the ascents are neither too long nor too troublesome to detract from the fantastic views.

Dunsinane is the traditional site of a 1054 battle in which the Earl of Northumbria defeated Macbeth. The much earlier Iron Age hill fort has long been known as Macbeth's Castle, though there is no archaeological evidence that it was in use by him or anyone during the mid eleventh century.
