Description:
Bloody Bay in 1480 was the stage for a clash of Titans, when Clan Donald and the Lordship of the Isles erupted in a vicious power struggle. John MacDonald's own son, Angus Og, led a rebellion against his father for control of the clan. Matters came to a head in bitter civil war amongst the clan culminating in the Battle of Bloody Bay ( Blàr Bàgh na Fala) off the coast of Mull. John was defeated and Angus seized control of a divided clan.
The power of the Lordship of the Isles was over and a major force in Scottish political affairs had permanently waned.
