Description:
An interesting 12-stage "slightly harder" walk following the Ayrshire coast from Glenapp to Skelmorlie. Sometimes the path may be indistinct and navigation skills are (as nearly always) required. This is one of Scotland’s ‘Great Trails’. The longest stage (Ayr to Troon) being only 15.25 km in length, there is no need to rush. Just enjoy the walk! A stunning coastline and always the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde in full view! Another fine walk, the Mull of Galloway Trail, connects at Glenapp while Ayr provides a link with the River Ayr Way. From Ardrossan you could consider taking the ferry either to Brodick (Arran Coastal Way) or to Campbeltown (Kintyre Way). Yet another option is the ferry from Skelmorlie to Rothesay (West Island Way). Along this 'sea blown' trail you’ll find quite a number of interesting sites to visit.
